Water.IO, the IoT smart packaging company, announced today that it has been named a finalist in the ‘best technological innovation’ category at the BrauBeviale: Trade Fair for Production and Marketing of Drinks. The event took place Nov 8-10 in Nuremberg.
Water.IO presented the world’s first Water.reminder smart clip-on cap for disposable water bottles. The innovative cap attaches to any standard disposable water bottle. A light flashes at regular intervals reminding the consumer to drink more. The caps, which are commercially available, are reusable and can be transferred from one bottle to another. “Our Smartcap technology has been in development for about two years, and is now available for commercial use,” said Yoav Hoshen, co-founder of Water.IO. “This recognition is a significant achievement for us. Our caps are the first application of active electronics in packaging and certainly of its use for disposable water bottles. While the technology is complex, the cap is simple enough to allow consumers to use it without changing their routine.”
The caps are set with a timer that remind consumers to drink at regular intervals. The cap must be opened and closed to reset the timer which means the user will actually drink. The reminder cap can transferred from one bottle to another which increases the convenience of not having to constantly reset reminders and provides a portable smart hydration solution. The caps are a socially responsible product that do not affect the recyclability or end of life of the water bottle.
